pg. 170 "Was she a very charming woman? Was she handsome? Was there any picture of her in the Abbey? And why had she been so partial to that grove? Was it from dejection of spirits?"
I feel that in this part of the visit Catherine is searching for more of a mystery from the Abbey, after Henry's story on the ride to the Abbey about the secret passages and chambers to be found to spark her imagination, and the cabinet and chest in her room. Now I believe she is trying to search for something that is not there or she is catching on to something that will give her that mystery/adventure that she has been occupied with since she arrived. Especially pertaining to the late Mrs. Tilney. Whether she is successful in finding this mystery she is so fond of, I feel that it will do more damage than good.
