"Briony knew her only reasonable choice then would be to run away, to live under hedges, eat berries, and speak to no one, and be found by a bearded woodsman one winter's dawn, curled up at the base of a giant oak, beautiful and dead, and barefoot, or perhaps wearing the ballet pumps with the pink ribbon straps..."
I enjoyed this part of Brionys little freakout when Lola decided to play Arabella for multiple reasons. Her description of how she felt betrayed and how upset she was over not being able to play Arabella shows how the smallest change affects her whole demeanor and shows her controlling or orderly personality. Also just simply the description of her running away shows how detailed she can really be even with a simple thing like running away from home. Lastly to me it still shows Briony is still fairly immature in how she reacted to not getting to play Arabella.
