Notes on the character of Galileo [The new type of physicist] (pg.117-118)
Hecht said not to idealize Galileo but throughout the whole play, you form an image and sense of who Galileo actually is. I was wondering what he means by "new type of physicist" and if it relates to how Galileo is making discoveries as well as sacrifices to benefit future generations, but at the same time manipulating people. Also, who is Galileo representing in this play in Brecht's vision and what does Brecht want us to gain overall from the Life of Galileo?
