From the Portrayal of the Church
Brecht points out how the church tries to cover up Galileo's progress because they were the intellectual authority. Why does the catholic church go to such lengths to cover up stories? It is something they have done in the past and present. Brecht also points out how the church glosses over the human weaknesses of its members. While looking past these human weaknesses, does the church cover up things to try and maintain the idea of nothing being wrong with the church? Avoiding others' weaknesses may lead them to avoid their own weaknesses.
